[ continued from here ]

You know that drinking more doesn't cure a hangover, right?

[ Because the moment Matt said "You need to drink more", Felicity definitely interpreted it as "You need to drink more alcohol." Not water, despite the glasses they've just been chugging. ]

...oh. Hydration. As in water. [ Her eyes squeeze together as she takes a deep breath in. ] Riiight. [ She can't help but chuckle though, when he makes that little jab. ] How about I drink more water, post nap?

[ Her automatic assumption to alcohol has Matt both laughing and wincing at the same time, and he feels himself slowly moving until he's sinking into the couch completely to lie on his back. ]

If you don't drink more now, you'll wake up with a headache.

[ He says it in a classic tone, the one that conveys 'you don't have to listen to me because I believe in the freedom of choice even though yours is wrong'. ]

You're the genius out of the two of us though, I'll trust whatever decision you make.

[ And whatever decision that is, Matt doesn't stay awake long enough to find out. By the time Felicity reaches her next goal his throbbing head has dragged him into sleep, and he doesn't know how much time has passed when he stirs again.

The place is quiet save for the soft sound of Felicity breathing in the other room, and Matt groans quietly under his breath when he slowly sits up. He still feels like he got hit by a vehicle, but it's more of a sedan now than a truck, and he calls that progress.

He gets up and stands for a moment, senses still blurred a little as he navigates himself into her unfamiliar kitchen without a cane or fault in his step, and it isn't until he's at the sink filling a glass of water that Matt realizes he hadn't listened for Felicity's pulse; he assumed she was asleep, but she could have very well just been lying down wide awake.

He holds his hand out in front of him on the way back to the couch for safe measure, a touch of concern in his tone when he calls out to her. ]

Felicity?

[ He's praying she doesn't answer; it would be easier if she was still asleep. Then he could just sneak out and text her after getting into a cab. ]
